A quick guide to Chakra
Root Chakra
The root chakra, also known as the Muladhara chakra, is located at the base of the spine. It is associated with grounding, stability, and security. The root chakra is said to be the seat of our primal instincts and our connection to the physical world. When the root chakra is balanced, we feel safe and secure in our bodies and in the world around us. When it is imbalanced, we may experience fear, anxiety, or insecurity. To affirm, repeat, “I am here. I am now. I am safe."
Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra, also known as the Svadhisthana chakra, is located below the navel. It is associated with creativity, pleasure, and sexuality. The sacral chakra is said to be the seat of our emotional energy and our life force. When the sacral chakra is balanced, we feel creative, passionate, and alive. When it is imbalanced, we may experience emotional problems, such as depression, anxiety, or sexual problems. To affirm, repeat, “I am worthy.”
Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra, also known as the Manipura chakra, is located above the navel. It is associated with personal power, confidence, and will. The solar plexus chakra is said to be the seat of our ego and our sense of self. When the solar plexus chakra is balanced, we feel confident, powerful, and in control of our lives. When it is imbalanced, we may experience low self-esteem, lack of confidence, or difficulty making decisions. To affirm, repeat, “I accept myself completely.”
Heart Chakra
The heart chakra, also known as the Anahata chakra, is located in the center of the chest. It is associated with love, compassion, and empathy. The heart chakra is said to be the seat of our unconditional love and our connection to others. When the heart chakra is balanced, we feel love for ourselves and others, and we are able to forgive and let go of pain. Throat Chakra
The throat chakra, also known as the Vishuddha chakra, is located in the throat. It is associated with communication, self-expression, and truth. The throat chakra is said to be the seat of our voice and our ability to speak our truth. When the throat chakra is balanced, we are able to communicate effectively and express ourselves truthfully. Third Eye Chakra
The third eye chakra, also known as the Ajna chakra, is located between the eyebrows. It is associated with intuition, psychic abilities, and spiritual insight. The third eye chakra is said to be the seat of the pineal gland, which is responsible for producing melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep and wakefulness. When the third eye chakra is balanced, we are able to see the world clearly and make wise decisions. When it is imbalanced, we may experience headaches, difficulty sleeping, or problems with vision. To affirm, repeat, “I trust my intuition.”
